Help [Galaxy S3] Random Reboots Into Boot Loop

agentg

Lurker
Hey everyone, here's my problem

The device:
Galaxy S3 running Android 4.1.2
I'm running the Samsung firmware, I haven't rooted the phone.

The problem:
My phone keeps randomly crashing / rebooting into a boot loop.
Once the phone crashes, it shows the boot screen saying "Samsung Galaxy S3 GT-I9300T". Usually, this screen remains while "Samsung Galaxy S3 GT-I9300T" keeps flashing.

Sometimes, pressing the power button while the boot screen is flashing helps and the phone starts.
Sometimes, I have to take the battery out to turn off the phone. Once the phone is off, pressing the power button helps and the phone starts.

So far I've tried the following to no avail:
* Enter recovery mode and clear cache
* Enter recovery mode and wipe all data

Also, the eMMC check app says:
SGS3 Sudden Death?
Yes. Insane chip.

Any idea how to fix this? I'm pretty surprised that wiping all data didn't help. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I had the same problem... With the same symptoms. It could be a mechanical problem. Dirty power button.
Disassembly the phone, if u can, and clean the button with alcool.
It worked for me...

I was also facing the same problem and factory reset solved it.
But I am afraid it may recur again.
Please let me know how you fixed it.

It happened twice to me. With the MG6 and MG4 ROM.
Haven't figured out why, because my S3 got a sane chip according to the mentioned app. So far, it didn't occur again...

Hi. I was wondering if you found a resolve for it? I used to only get it when I locked my phone, but now it happens randomly all the time. (It turned off 4 times today, when I've just been typing.)

This is a faulty power button. SUPER common. Did it on my S2 alllllll the time. Had to send the phone off to some dude on EBAY to get the button replaced.
