menu button
settings
sound
default notifications you can set the default sound
Open messaging
menu button
settings
scroll down to notification settings
tick notifications
You can then use Select ringtone to change the default sms notification sound (to be different from other notifications) if you wish
Close messaging
Open contacts
select a contact
press edit (pen at top left)
Message alert
Select a sound for that particular contact (if you want it to differ from default)
