Help galaxy s3

Yet another charging problem-but with a twist.

I have searched and searched, so now im asking for help. My wifes s3 quit charging. By that, I mean it doesnt even indicate that a charger is plugged in. Tried wall chargers, car chargers, different cords, cleaning the connector, some cache dumps, resets and other software voodoo ive found in my searching; it seems like the charging ckt is just not working.

I took the mother board out, connected to a charger, and I do get 5V on the board, so its gotta be internal. For now, ive just rigged up a dock charger for the battery. It works, but am I looking at a new mother board? Has anyone out there had this problem? Thanks!

You can get the charging port replaced for around $40. Most fix-it shops don't like it, because it's a pain in the rear to do, and it doesn't pay that much.

You might have to call around to a bunch of places to find one. Many shy away because it requires micro-soldering on the main board.

If you're adventurous, and handy with a solder iron, you can do it yourself. Lots of videos out there.

I had to call about 12 places within about 40 miles of home to find someone that would do it for me. Next time, I'll try myself first.

You could always pick up an external charger and just charge the battery outside of the phone, or you could get a QI wireless charging receiver and charging pad. I've been using mine for about a year now and I love it. It does charge a bit slower though, similar to USB charging.
