Galaxy s4 becomes hot when I use waze

Hi there,

Samsung galaxy s4 becomes hot when I use internet or waze.. isn't just a bit warm but really hot... is it dangerous for phone ? how to fix that or at least how to make sure it cools down ? because when I drive and I am using waze + charging in same time, phone is completely hot.

Any help appreciated.

Waze is really processor intensive. Mine gets hot while charging and running Waze, I'd say this is normal. Yes the S4 gets hotter than I'd have thought Samsung would be happy with but it's always done it and it does cool - my HTC Desire before this also got hot in the same situation. The S4 has more cores and a higher clock-speed so it's going to get hotter.

I wouldn't worry about it. if I were you.

I also charge my GS4 and run Waze. It definitely gets warm. But warm/hot are relative terms. There are probably some apps that can tell you the actual temp of the phone/processor. Get that and you will know precisely how warm/hot your phone gets during use.

You might switch Waze from auto (display) to night mode. The AMOLED display running white turns on all the LEDs so that will likely contribute to the heat issue... or so I've heard.
