Help Galaxy S4 call quality problem. Solutions?

whileloop

Lurker
The problem with the call quality is that people can't hear her on the phone well. However, when the external mic earphones is connected, the call quality is normal.

The phone's built in microphone doesn't seem to have problem too. I tried recording my voice and replaying. The recording sounded normal. No problems there.

It seems to me that it is a software issue. My sister told me that she had reset her phone before, but that did not lead to a solution.

Her S4 is currently on Android 4.4.2.

There is an upgrade to Lollipop available, but my sister does not wish to upgrade. I want to know if that update would likely fix this bug, or if there is any way to fix this problem without upgrading.

Thank you for your support.

If you have a case, check to make sure the microphones aren't covered by the case and don't have dirt/lint in 'em. One is located at the top (next to headset jack) and one at the bottom (next to USB port)
