I have a Samsung Galaxy Nexus but the phone is starting to have some glitches, and the battery life is getting worse. The biggest problem...there's a short in the jack so it takes a while to get the cord in the right position to get the phone to charge.
I knew when the S5 was announced, that it would be my next phone. With that said I was dreading this upgrade because I am currently grandfathered into the unlimited data plan with Verizon.
When the pre-order opened up, I went online to try and order the phone for myself and another family memeber and sure enough, it said my unlimited data plan was no longer an option and in order to upgrade the phones, I'd have to change my plan.
I had a few other questions, so I decided to go into my local Verizon Wireless store. When I was talking to the manager, he was SUPER helpful. He said there are ways around my problem.
He was able to order 2 phones for the price of one (it's a little higher but you get rebate cards back to bring the price back down) and override the plan upgrade. I did have to lock us into a 2 year deal for both lines getting the new phones, but both lines keep their previous plans with the unlimited data.
I actually was considering canceling my account (because I have a phone through work) but I have had the same number for nearly 15 years and just didn't want to change. I am so glad the manager was willing to work with me.
