Help Galaxy S5 trouble syncing with Windows XP/7

Hi all...I'm having trouble with these two operating systems fully recognizing my Samsung Galaxy S5 phone.
The device is listed but most of the time I cannot get into the files/folders of the phone and if I click on the icon it just lists an empty space where the files/folders should be listed.

When I can get it to see the local/external sim/sd cards, I can't transfer anything to them......just says "copying" but nothing actually happens.
I tried downloading drivers to the pc the phone is plugged into but the same thing happens.

Anyone else experiencing this?...I never had this trouble with the S3 on the same pc....

It has been a while since I did that, the 1st day I received it and before it was linked to Verizon.

I just plugged it to the Mini-USB port on the Win7 Home Premium desktop and I got a message about installing drivers. After a while, the phone showed up and all was good.

I can use Win7's file exploder to transfer files to/from the S5 w/o any problems.

xplorer2 is by far much better than Microsloth's file manager. Multiple windows side by side, drag and drop is soooo easy.
