Help Galaxy s5 WiFi issue

Hello All,

Just signed up here to ask this question. I hate to do it, as i am in IT and should be able to fix this but the problem just never seems to want to fix itself.

I never had an issue connecting to WiFi here at one of my clients, until maybe 2-3 weeks ago.

I see the access point but i cannot connect to it. I dont even get the option to do so.

It says the AP is "Open" however i know for a fact there is security on it. Laptops can connect, but alas, my phone still will not.

I have reset my phone, reset the AP, forgot the connection to reestablish, nothing has worked. I know if i can somehow get my phone to recognize that the connection has security, and get to the point where i need to put it in, it will most likely be fine then. I just cant seem to make that happen.

Any ideas, or anyone seen this before? I tried googling, but can not come up with something similar based on my search terms i guess.

OK so this is a puzzler. Since it sounds like things were fine with this particular WiFi network and then a couple of weeks ago that changed, can you recall if applied some random update to your phone right before this started happening?

As you've already gone through the most common steps (resets, etc.) if you haven't tried wiping the system cache partition already, try that. Reboot back into Recovery mode wipe the system cache. It's kind of a long shot but since network connectivity is pretty much a lower level system thing maybe that might make a difference.
