Help Galaxy S6/Edge Gallery Format

Dragoan

Lurker
I just got my Edge last week and fiddling around with it for a few days. I came across the gallery of my pics that sorted by showing the Month/Day and the pic(s) taken that day and when you went down further it separated into month/day/year 2014 it was like levels ... it was pretty cool no idea how or where I was to see that but now my gallery is just a ton of pics. They are still sorted by date but just all the pics not broken down into specific days showing the month and day (June 2 for example). Anyone have any idea what I am talking about and how to view pics in the more specific format? Have no idea how I had gotten to that screen.

I think you're talking about the "Photos" app?
It's basically a (very cool) photo backup app that shows your backed up pics locally on the device.
The latest update is particularly cool as you can "pinch out" to expand the definition into years and also search a word like "snow" and it will find pics containing snow! https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.apps.photos

That was it! THANKS! I don't even recall clicking on that app to view pics I normally do it through "Gallery" but Photo app sorts all photos by day taken. Great.

It also backs up all your pics for free so you can save storage space by deleting all pics in your DCIM folder occasionally.
I recommend going into backup and sync settings, make sure it's turned on at the top and selecting "high quality" in Upload Size because they're free and unlimited (for pics up to 16mp) :thumbsupdroid:

OK I changed the settings as you said especially about the "high quality" because otherwise there is limited space and have to buy more. I have to see how this affects picture quality but great advice and thanks for your help.

One question, it looks like you have to have "sync" actually ON to transfer photos. Do you leave this on 24/7 cause it seems to burn up battery like bluetooth and wifi and location do or do you only turn it on when want to transfer pics?
