Help Galaxy S6 security help

So, apparently neither my security fingerprint or my backup password are being recognized. Is there a way to reset this without factory resetting my phone?

Prior to the Galaxy S6, one could use the Android Device Manager on their PC to unlock the phone. Unfortunately Google has eliminated this capability. However you can do this using Samsung's Find My Mobile. To do this you need a Samsung account. Use the following URL.
https://findmymobile.samsung.com/login.do

follow the instructions to unlock your phone, where the security will be reset as swipe.

Best of luck

My phone isn't locked, I have a swipe password to gain access to my phone. However, the security requires my fingerprint, which didn't work and now it isn't recognizing my backup password either. I'm not locked out yet, but if I ever am I wouldn't know my password to get back in. I didn't see a way to reset this on the website.

Do you have weatherwidget showing on lockscreen? It interferes with the fingerprintsensor.

I got locked out just recently and I just logged into my goggle account and I was able to access my phone.
