Galaxy S8 - How to enable Live Photos (Motion Photo)

Live Photos is a fun iPhone features that creates a "living" photo by attaching a short video clip to a photo.

The Galaxy S8 has a similar feature called Motion Photos, but you to turn it on. Here's how:
  1. Open the camera app
  2. Tap the settings button (gear icon)
  3. Scroll down and tap Motion photo to enable it
Once enabled, every photo you take will also have a short 3-second video attached. There's no visual indication of this when snapping photos in the camera app, so you just have to remember it's on.

Motion Photos appear in the Gallery like any other photo, only they have a video icon in the upper right corner. Pressing it will show you the video clip recorded just before the photo was taken.

Thx for the info GamerCore! Do you know if/how you can auto upload the motion photos as video to Google Photos? My pictures are automatically backed up to Google Photo but only as an image, not with the video version as well. Thx!

Nice hidden feature, thanks for the tip @GamerCore . Although on my S8+ there is a large clickable text link on the photos themselves rather than a little icon to play the video.

Have to say though this feature is nothing like the slick iPhone feature and I have already turned it off. Nice to know it's there if I want it tho. :goofydroid:
