Galaxy S9 Google Locked... 24 or 72 hr Timer??

I bought a phone on Ebay. It's Google locked and wants me to log in to Google so that I can set up the phone. The seller gave me his email and password but the phone doesn't care. It just keeps saying to log in. I know the credentials are right because I can log in online with them. He reset the password recently, and I'm told this starts a 24 or 72 hour timer in which you can't log in. But I couldn't find anything that says whether it is 24 or 72 hours for this phone... Galaxy S9. Can someone tell me? I want to know whether to send it back to him for a refund or if I just need to wait a little while longer.

Thanks,

Nick

there is nothing here that suggests that a password change takes any time at all.
A password change doesn't take time, but a password change just before or just after a factory reset does produce a timeout in Factory Reset Protection, which seems to be the OP's problem.

Unfortunately I've also seen mixed messages on this. From memory this was originally 72 hours, then I read that it was being reduced, but then many people reported that this reduction didn't seem to have happened. So I've no confidence in what the actual answer is.
