Help Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 Unlocking?

Everyone,

I've had my Tab 2 with Verizon for over a year now. First tablet I've ever owned & have grown to love having it. Yesterday, I switch to AT&T, and when inserting the SIM, it does not work because it is locked on only Verizon.

I looked through every page of this forum for the Galaxy Tab 2 looking for an unlock thread with no luck. If I overlooked it, pleas forgive me. at page 20 of 32, my eyes started bugging out. Also did some searching on YouTube & found some info. Basically, they are videos about going onto a website & paying for an unlock code. Not sure if I trust that. The other option I saw was rooting & using an app to unlock it for you. In the past, I've only rooted one phone & I did it with a lot of luck. Don't want to risk bricking my tablet unless I can find a real dum-dum tutorial on how to do it.

Any help would be great. These forums have always been a huge knowledge base!

Thank you for the link! Some of the links on that how-to do not work anymore, but I think I've found them elsewhere.

I tried to search as well & so many things came up, it was overwhelming. The fact that I'm not very good with this stuff doesn't help either.

Will post my results once I complete.

Well, I went over the instruction on the link. I have all the software & drivers installed. The program says it has failed to root my tablet. I triple checked to make sure all the settings are correct on my tablet.

I found CT Root & have it installed. Found a video on YouTube of someone rooting their Tab 2, but it is the WiFi only model, not the Verizon model that I have. Worried that it may not work correctly & would brick my tablet. Any thoughts?

Well, I found another write up on the exact model, SCH-I705 & it says it is very risky. Imay just abort the project as I don't want to end up with a useless device. Right now, I can sell it for at least $75 on eBay.

Thank you for the help BRIANZ2013!

Yeah - carrier unlocking often does not require rooting.

Does this thing have radios compatible with AT&T?

If so and if it's paid off, ask Verizon for the unlock code.

It is paid off. I don't think the radio is the same as AT&T network, so I have given up. Verizon said they do not have unlock codes.

Off the subject slightly, I was able to get all my ETF's from Verizon canceled. I guess I could use that money to get a new one.
