Galaxy Tab 2 or 3?

I honestly would like to know. I have a opportunity to buy a virtually brand new Galaxy Tab 2, used maybe a couple days, from a friend of mine who decided he'd rather stick to Apple products. Now, I can buy it for 100-120, or, drop a full 200 on a Tab 3 7 inch, God only knows why going from 7 to 8 inches means a near 150 dollar price increase. Thoughts?

I'm confused as to are you talking about a Tab 3 7.0inch, or a Tab 3 8.0 inch? You spoke of a big difference in terms of price between a 7 and 8, but I don't see mention of an 8 inch device.

Anyway, the difference is big if we are talking about the Tab 3 7inch or the Tab 3 8inch. The Tab 3 7inch is virtually the same device as the Tab 2, the difference is the increase in useable screen estate since they removed the onscreen buttons and replaced them with physical/capacitive ones. The Tab 3 8inch is a different story. Not only does it have a bigger screen, it has a higher resolution allowing for sharper images. The screen quality is better too. Plus it has a more powerful CPU (1Ghz dual core for Tab2/3 7inch, 1.5Ghz dual core for 8inch) and twice as much RAM (2GB for 8inch).

Oh, well that I didn't know. I just figured the 7 inch/8 inch, etc had the same hardware. Ok, well, just comparing the Tab 2 7 inch to the Tab 3 7 inch, based on my being able to get the first for just over 100 vs the second for 2x that, is there a grand difference?

Well, the Tab 3 is lighter, smaller body, more available screen estate since you don't have part of the screen taken over by the system dock (back, home and multitask button). Battery could be better. Although overall the experience should be almost the same. However the Tab 2 may not get an update past Jellybean, but the Tab 3 would.

Hmm, so, I guess if I want the most bang for the buck, I should save up more money, and shoot for the 8 inch Tab 3? Or, which would you honestly say to go for on the 7 inch tablet? Tab 2 or 3?

I'd say go Tab3. Also double check on the prices. In my country, the difference between the price of a Tab 3 8inch and a Note 8inch is just 50 bucks, so you may want to consider it. That's basically an oversized but cheaper Note 2.
