Galaxy Tab 2 or Nexus 7?

Hello,

I have recently decided to explore purchasing a tablet. Seeing as I have the Samsung Galaxy S3 phone I was leaning toward the Samsung Tab 2 until I saw what the Nexus 7 had to offer.

I am starting college in fall, however I will have a computer so the tablet will be used for fun, emails and internet. Im not planning on putting much music on it, I usually just use Pandora. Which one would be better? or is there a tablet that I haven't found that would be better?

The Nexus 7 is undoubtedly better. The only reason you would choose the Tab 2 is if you need a bigger local storage and a back camera.

I had this conundrum not too long ago. I ended up choosing the Samsung Tab 2 7" and am happy with it. You are going to get a number of different people telling you opposite things. I ended up deciding based on which one I could buy at the store and have in my hand today They had the samsung in stock and the nexus had to be ordered. They are both great tabs and have their benefits and drawbacks. My perfect tablet would have features of both, which is why it was so hard to decide!

There's a lot of stuff coming out in the next few months in this price range- Tab 3, Fonepad, HP,...

I ended up with a like new TMobile 7.0+ off swappa for 200. The back camera's not great but it's super useful for bar codes and such. I also use mhl fairly often.

if any new phones or anything cool in the android world, you can read about it from the links above. at least for me those are the ones i check quite often to see what is coming out.

There isn't any one site that will provide you with structured information like that. Most of us get our information by picking off many different sites. We also look at when the big electronic shows are for announcements etc....

To your original question, Nexus 7 all the way, I absolutely love mine.

I vote for the Nexus 7, but I really, really miss a back camera...being in college, you never know when you'll be playing on your tablet and want to snap something funny...I still don't understand how/why Google left that out???

That being said, the Nexus 7 is the smarter choice...much more future-proof...

The only reason I woulda got the tab is for the rear camera. Nexus is faster. Just bought 2 for my daughters

People in my family have both of those tablets, and the experience I'm hearing is that the nexus 7 is the superior choice. The Tab 2 apparently suffers from random restarts quite a lot.

I have not noticed my tab 2 ever randomly restarting. as a matter of fact, i hardly ever turn it off at all, and it doesn't suffer from the bugs my phone suffers from (random restarts, lagging, glitchy) when I don't turn it off.
