Help Galaxy Tab 4 won't power on or charge

I just got myself a Tab 4, except so far it's been a $180 paperweight. I've had it plugged in all day, with several different chargers, and I don't even get a charging screen, it's black. No response when I hold power button down. Tried every button combination trick, nothing works.

I can't find anyone else on the internet with the same problem with the Tab 4, only 2's and 3's, so I have no idea how to remove the battery on this model.

Please help!
 
Go back to the store you bought it from and exchange it for another one. I bought the nook version from a nearby Barnes and Noble store last Tuesday. On it as I type this.

Yep, the battery cannot be removed. Seems to be the thing these days with mobile devices... the manufacturers make more $$$$$ this way!
 
After my fiance drove it around in the car for 20 minutes on the car charger, and I had it plugged in with the white wall charger but a separate cable (and cleaned the charging port), it randomly started charging as I was about to put it back in the box and as I was texting him about how I didn't want a tablet anymore after all this.

I suppose it decided it really wanted a home..

Me too. I will have to get a larger tablet in the future, especially if I ever need one for sight reading music. Otherwise I'm really enjoying my first one. I've loaded 40 apps on it (all from Google Play), and still have plenty of room in internal storage. Some of them have been moved to external SD, which is awesome. This is probably the first Android device that I've owned that might remain unrooted. But one never knows... :D

It can be. Depends on what you do with any given device. With most of my rooted devices, I rooted them mostly to expand internal storage (via Link2SD), and use a better method to backup apps. Not to mention, some of the recovery options for rooted devices are more sophisticated, though not necessary for everyone.

Not all USB cables can be used with charger. Did you use the original charger? Also, Samsungs are especially finicky so using the original cable is best.

I recently bought a Tab 4 as a gift and had no problems charging it.

Did you ever come up with a solution to this? I won a tab 4 in a work contest, and I haven't gotten it to turn on as of yet. I've had it plugged in over night with the brand new factory charger it came with, no charge light comes on, no response to any button combinations. Also as you mentioned, this seems to be the only thread on the net about this issue right now.
 
Ok, I figured it out. If return is not an option, all you need to do is (VERY CAREFULLY) pry off the back of your Tab 4 with a credit card and/or a guitar pick. Once you get it off, you'll see the battery there. You'll see 2 flat copper wires attached. The small one, lift the latch and GENTLY pull it out. The fatter one, just GENTRY lift up with your fingernail. Then CAREFULLY restore them. Snap the back back on it and plug it in. Boom, battery charging screen!
 
Very nice tip -- and you are a brave one :-) Mine works well (new three days ago). But it's good to know the back simply snaps off and back on again -- vs. being glued -- in case the need arises.
 
This same issue happened to mine. Try probably 10 different chargers/chords. After about a month of it being worthless i randomly decided to blow into the charger input on that tablet, even thought it looked clean. So i did and guess what, it worked. Worth a shot anyways.

You know what mate...i am a freelance engineer with imortant job info on my tab, its sunday and no one is answering their phones and i need this info and NOW...stressed all morning then i followed your advice and it came straight back on...i owe you a pint ...thank you so much...

Used DrJeff02 suggestion. It worked. It goes into recovery mode. There were a few suggested options and I was not sure which to take. So to get out of that I push the power switch and everything was back to normal. How easy was that.......

OMG Thank you! I had used mine at work today to play games on my lunch break, and it was working fine, not even low on battery charge. I got home and took it out of my bag and the screen was black and would not turn on. I REALLY did not want to hassle with a return ( bought it online only a month ago). Found this tip just in time. Nice to know for future reference!

this method is not working for me at all. I just received this as a gift on friday and when the battery died yesterday, bc my son was playing games and he plugged it into an available charger, it apparently didnt charge and simply died. I connected it to the factory charger and cord all night, still nothing. any other suggestions?
 
This happens with the galaxy tab 2 I had. What I ended up doing was to slow charge it. That is plug it into a laptop /PC to charge, leave the laptop /PC on and leave plugged on for 6 hours or so. Then unplug and it should start, then plug into the fast charger.

Thanks Mistergoof! I will try that. When i called Samsung they told me to plug it into a desktop and let it charge for about and hour, (it still didn't work) but I will let it sit longer since it is just sitting around anyway. Btw, has anyone fou d a way to avoid this in the future???

I kept the original USB cable but tossed the charger portion as it was only intermittently charging my Tab4. I've been using a power cube supplied with a Blackberry phone and its working great.

I tried this with my Galaxy Tab 4 & worked great. Thanks for taking time to post it.

Can u please help my tablet won't turn on and it just blinks
