Galaxy Tab E 9.6

Hi guys,

Thanks for taking the time to look at this. Hopefully i'm not posting something that has already been asked.

I brought a Samsung Tab E and it is on the KitKat operating system. This seems to be quite old and some what out of date from my other android devises I have. Is there any way of updating this? I have tried the software update on the tablet but it says it is up to date. Is the an update due?

Any help would be great.

It says that should have lollipop, are you sure you're definitely on KitKat?

I saw this website and it was one of the reasons I bought the Tab. But once I got it, it was on Kit Kat. I have attached a screenshot.

However, based on your model number, it looks as though gsmarena was incorrect and you are on the most recent build - https://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/database/SM-T560/

You may be able to update if a developer has made a 5.1 Custom ROM, but you'd need to root first. Is that an option for you?

That is a good idea. I might look into it. Is rooting a difficult thing/safe thing to do?

I've never tried rooting a Samsung device before and from googling, I don't actually see a root method for it.

I'll have another look, but it looks like you're stuck unfortunately.
