how do I block over the air update on my rooted galaxy tab. I didnt root it I got it that way...

Hi and welcome to the forums
Normally you can go:
menu
system settings
about device
software update
then uncheck the auto update option
Once you have done this it should stop pestering you. If you do ever want to update it I suggest that you register on the android forums and subscribe to the "all things root" forum for your device where someone can give you some specialised help.
But
We dont know if you have a custom rom installed (in which case it may be different or the option may not be present at all) or if its just rooted with a stock samsung rom still running. If the above suggestion doesn't help I suggest that you post another question with more information.
