Help GalaxyS3 ICS Calendar App Problem

MilesBH

Newbie
Hello,

Im currently using the native calendar app. I am syncing my laptop iCal calendar -> Google Calendar -> Native Android Calendar app on my phone. When I go to "accounts and sync" I do not see an auto sync option. I just see a slider at top that I can select to turn syncing on or off.

My calendar doesn't seem to be immediately syncing when I make new events on iCal (which does immediately create a calendar event on my google calendar)

So my question is - How do I make my calendars automatically sync?
And if they are automatically syncing (I cannot find any settings on my phone that enable "auto sync" but sync is green in my notification bar) how often is the calendar app syncing with my google calendar?

Also on a side note, are there any applications that can sync multiple iCal calendars to my google calendar? So my events can be color coded etc, Ive been looking for something like this for awhile.

Thanks for any tips/suggestions
I am on T-mobile

Sorry for the misunderstanding on my part. So you are saying that your phone's calendar isn't automatically syncing with the Google calendar? I would think it should, but I don't use the stock calendar on Android, so am not very familiar with it. It lacks too many features to suit me.

In Calendar, look in Settings/Sync Settings/Sync events/tasks. Your google account should be listed there, with an on/off slider to enable or disable it. Although I use an aftermarket calendar, I see this listed on my S3 and it is turned on. If you don't see it, at the bottom is 'add account' so you can set it up. There is also a manual 'sync all' selection. Hope that helps. :)

Yes - the green sync circles are toggled, and accounts and sync is switch to on. So I guess my phone is telling me that it is automatically syncing. How often does the stock android calendar sync with the google calendar? Is it supposed to be instant?

Well, back in 2010 when I first got into Android and started really using GMail, I could start typing an email on my PC, save the incomplete draft, swing my chair around to my notebook to the side, and continue working on the same GMail draft right where I had left off on my PC. It was syncing that fast. I haven't really paid a lot of attention lately, but I think it still works that way. I know if I make an appointment on my Google Calendar either on the Phone or PC interface it shows up within a few seconds on the other.

Wow...I wonder why mine is not syncing that fast?

Try looking through all the Settings/Accounts and sync settings for every account you have set up on the phone. Maybe something there could be improved.

Figured it out, removing my google account and re-adding it did the trick. Who would have thought!

Thank you for all your help!

My pleasure. :) Sometimes that is the quickest way to solve a problem. Just this morning I had to do the same thing with my aftermarket calendar app. Out of the clear blue it suddenly decided my "home time zone" setting was in "incorrect format" and it shifted all my alarms by one hour. But just on the phone, not in the Google server's record of my calendar. Weird. I had not changed anything in the calendar app since I got the S3, so no idea what caused that.

I'm glad you got it working.
