GalaxySII lock/power button

in advance i'd like to apologize if this has been solved by someone before but i am new to any kind of android phones since i have been using iphones forever but...

i have a GS2 and when i push the power/lock button it turns the screen off but instead of asking for my pattern when i push it again, it goes straight to the last thing i left off of. my question is how do i make it so when i push that button, when i push it again have to enter my pattern to unlock my phone?

Hello and welcome to AF. To set it that way, you have to go to Settings> Security> Lock phone after> set it to immediately. Lock your phone again and see if this works.

it doesnt give me that option. i have a samsung sgh i777 galaxy s 2 if that helps.... the way you said it didnt come out in my phone

i was wondering if anyone could help. when i push the power/lock button my phone does go dark but when i push it again, instead of it asking for my pattern it just goes back to where i was before i pushed it. any ideas on how to change that?

Welcome to AF I don't know an answer to your issue but I think I can at least get you directed to the right place. We have several forums dedicated to the SGS2 so I need to know your carrier to move this thread to the right place. I think you are on AT&T using the standard SGS2 (not skyrocket) but I am not 100% sure. If you could let me know hopefully we can move towards getting you to a solution

Do the following:

-Go to "Settings"
-Go to "Location and Security"
-Under "Screen Unlock Settings" there is an option that says "Timeout"
-Change that to "Immediately", it's the first choice.

I just tested it on my SGS2 (At&t) and it does work.
