Gallery 3D uninstall problem

I installed Gallery 3D by Rayman50 by mistake. It turned my localized Gallery app into the English one. I uninstalled it, but now the Gallery icon is missing (showing now only a little white camera icon) and the app is now called "false". Any ideas how to fix this? (Using Huawei U8800, Android 2.2.1) There is no option to uninstall the stock Gallery app, and no way to reinstall it. I wouldn't want to reset the phone as I just had to do that and set everything up from zero.

Have you thought about using a gallery replacement app like Quickpic? Don't know if you can get the stock gallery back but if you can replace it with something else, that may work.

I made the same mistake. I was able to fix it like this:

  • Made a backup of Gallery3D's apk with File Expert. It was listed as com.cooliris.media
  • Re-installed that .apk
  • After that I was able to remove the updates to Gallery3D in Market.
  • Rebooted the phone and then everything was back to normal. You may have to re-add the shortcut if you had one.
I hope this was useful to someone.

Can you give a bit more info for a newbie?

  • Made a backup of Gallery3D's apk with File Expert. It was listed as com.cooliris.media
If I start at Home in FE, where is this file?
  • Re-installed that .apk
You mean you installed the backup made in #1? How, just click on it?

Yeah, a little more detail would be awesome!
Thanx in advance
