my default gallery for my htc inspire 4g isn't working properly. when i click on the app it opens up but if i try to view a pic it closes out. i also can use the gallery button on the camera. i downloaded a different gallery app call smart gallery and it works just fine but i want to use the default gallery. I was thinking on trying to delete the default gallery but i didn't know where to re download it. any help would be greatly appreciative.

Welcome to AF cpl77. Have you tried clearing the cache on your phone and resetting your phone? (Not a factory reset) Let me know if that works.

Unless you have root access, you won't have the ability to delete the gallery for it's a stock app. Our best attack will be to fix the problem you are having with your gallery app. Have you moved your pics from the default folder? Do you see thumbnails of your pictures?
For the best help, you will want to check out the discussion area for your Inspire. I'm certain the good users in there can get your Gallery working properly. Below is a link to that area. Have fun and best of luck.

Hello and welcome aboard. ;)

If clearing data on the application doesn't work, then maybe it's an installed app causing conflict with the gallery app. Your best bet would be to find this app and uninstall it. Try to remember any application that you had installed prior to this problem started.

If you can't remember, then you might have to reset the device to factory default. However, this should be "only" done if every other attempt fails.

Best of luck, and thanks for joining the community.

You would need a file manager to move the files. I assume they are not moved. Lets do a test... Open up your camera app and then open the settings. Scroll down to the storage tab and make certain it's set to phone storage. Save. Take a picture. Exit the camera and open the Gallery and see if that pic is there and viewable. I'm thinking that your albums aren't under the DCIM folder. That is where the Gallery will look for your pics. It will consider the DCIM folder both on the internal storage and the SD card storage as the mother folder for your pictures. The sub folders below DCIM will be a folder for each album Example: DCIM/Family or
DCIM/Friends DCIM/etc
