Gallery photo display blurred

Hi guys!

I have a little niggle with the photo gallery on my desire (froyo).

When i enter a gallery album or folder, the images on the photo strip are blurry - even when they are at full screen (by rotating the phone to make the photo fit to screen).

If i pinch or flick to zoom in or out by just a fraction, the image becomes crystal clear - so, if i wanted to open an album to flick through some pictures for a friend to look at or something, they're all blurred. :-(

Any ideas why this is? How to fix??

Thank you :-)

I believe its something to do with loading a slightly blurred lessor memory hogging picture so the gallery doesnt slow down..I notice this with my gallery all the time and thats with a 2.2 stock HTC ROM as well as a custom ROM from leedroid..

if you use a ROM with the 3D gallery from the nexus one or if you download it on its own from the market you will notice they dont load up blurred but they do take a moment to become clear as opposed to the standard gallery..

I dont think really there is a fix because I think its just a performance thing from HTC to just make things be a little quicker as such....so cant really say anything other than ignore it or just download a different gallery app.

Only the iPhone has GPU optimized photo galleries. So, if you want super fast, clear images while flicking thru a photo gallery, you will need to get one of those....

Until Android is optimized to use on board GPU's, we will probably never see decent photo gallery/imaging properties.
