Gallery photo saving

Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini: How do I get my captured, what's app pics saved onto my gallery? It gives a message that there are no items in the gallery.
 
So if I understand correctly your friend sent you a picture trough whatsapp. You need to tap-and-hold on the picture until a menu appears. There you will have the option to save picture to your gallery.
