Game console run off android

I remember hearing about their Kickstarter last year and how quickly it was funded.

Most of the reviews I've read have been mixed leaning towards positive, but $99 for a gaming console is a great deal. :)

I have 3 android tablets. What I want it a controller that can connect to them all and play the top games out there.

I really like my Ouya. I use it mostly as a Netflix box and a console to play my Play Store games (via unofficial mod :D) on my TV without needing the awkwardness of my tab + HDMI

And that's where the market is going :-) a box that can do everything with ease.

Ouya the first game console run off of Android (as far as I know)
It is not the first or even close.

Chinese manufacturers have been making these kinds of devices for a good while now. The western market is just now starting to catch on with systems like Ouya, Shield, and Mojo, but they lack a certain charm and overall practicality that their Chinese counterparts have.

While the Ouya is not bad, you can do a lot better for around the same price. You are probably better off just getting a generic Android box and a bluetooth controller instead of having to jump through loopholes with Ouya's restrictions. If you are using it for just emulation, there are Android handhelds you can get for cheaper that offer the same thing.

Although JXD, and a few other Chinese manufacturers, have been making Android gaming systems and consoles for a couple of years. But I believe the Ouya was the first one to go on general sale outside of China, i.e. they you don't have to buy them from Ebay or Alibaba. and wasn't developed by a Chinese company either. Ouya Inc. is an American firm. I believe that's what makes the Ouya different and more noteworthy.

Why am i being reminded of the Pippin failure all over again?
