Game seems to keep re-enabling "Show Notifications"...

I'm playing Lost Bubble, which is a fun enough game, but it's got irritating "play me!" style notifications that it pushes to the notification panel. I've gone into App Manager and unchecked "Show Notifications" to kill that. A day later (without any updates to the app in between) I get another notification, and when I look at it in App Manager "Show Notifications" is checked again. Is there another way to kill those notifications or am I stuck with giving a crappy review because of this and uninstalling it?

I know there were some teething issues shortly after the "Show Notifications" checkbox was introduced, but those should have been sorted by 4.4.2. I have disabled notifications for several apps and haven't encountered an issue like yours, though I am now on 4.4.4. I don't remember having any problems on earlier versions.

Can you think of anything else that might be happening? Does the game crash frequently? Do you notice that the notifications are re-enabled after a reboot?

If you can't figure out any other options, one approach might be to use Secure Settings in conjunction with Tasker, Llama, or the automation app of your choice. With root, Secure Settings has the ability to toggle the Notification state for individual packages. You could set up a task to automatically disable notifications for Lost Bubble every X hours or each time the phone boots up.

I just checked and it's still unchecked now and I haven't rebooted or played the game recently. Tasker and Secure Settings is a great idea though. I'll keep an eye on it and see if it's a reboot or if the game re enables notifications when I run it and create a task based on that. Thanks!
