Gameloft Question and Comment

I have two Gameloft games on my Evo, Hero of Sparta and Dungeon Hunter. While doing a "manage and sync" with app brain, it shows that there are updates available for these two Gameloft apps. It will not however let me update them and I get a error message when trying to do so. How can I update these apps? Also, why would they show up listed in app brain at all? I can't find any information from Gameloft on how to update. I will give Gameloft this credit. They do make some of THE best games for android. However, there is nothing else positive I can say about them. Their support is non existent, their method of purchase and download is confusing at best and their lack of presence on the market is laughable. Several times, friends have seen me playing Hero of Sparta and immediately wanted buy the game for themselves. Again, their games are quite good. After explaining how to go about actually downloading the game and the processes involved with paying for it and installing it, they always look at me puzzled and say something like "your kidding right"? Needless to say, no one I know has ever purchased one of their games simply because they have no desire to jump though all the hoops to do so.

I'm not trying to bash Gameloft, just express frustration with my wasted time in trying to figure out something as simple as how to update their games and find a changelog to see what exactly I'm now installing on my phone.

While GameLoft boycott the Android Market I boycott them.

+1.

OP, I can't answer your question ("How do I update Gameloft games?"), but I agree with your general assessment of Gameloft. It is frustrating to pay these developers money, only to have them hit you with an unresponsive auto-reply email. Sucks. I do not support Gameloft despite their drool-worthy games because they don't deliver their content through the Market...

I completely agree. In fact the only reason that the games have made it on to my phone is that I got them for free during their pre Christmas give away promotion. If they were not free, I would not have gone out of my way to purchase them with their set up being what it is. When they come to Android Market, I will revisit this developer and most likely purchase many of their games and advocate others to do so. Their games are quite good. It's a shame they've tarnished their image so badly and so many people on so many forums have the same "stay away from Gameloft" mentality.

I'll block App-brain from trying to update these two apps and will see if I can re-download the latest version maybe. If anyone figures out how to update Gameloft apps, please let us know.

I would much prefer Gameloft games to be on the market, but to boycott them because of this is only stopping you from enjoying (in my opinion;)) the best FPS games currently available on Android - oh well, your loss

Its also worth noting that I did have to contact their customer support (my fault), and they got back to me within a day or so and could not have been more helpfull.

Emailed them back afterwards thanking them, and got a nice pleasant response from that as well

I can not figure out how to download any games from their website! I put in my model of phone, and my phone number, and they text me a link. When I click on the link, it takes me directly back to the original page! What am I doing wrong?

make sure that your browser on your phone has the User Agent set for "android". If the website thinks your browsing from a desktop browser it won't work. In all seriousness, though, their purchasing system is so difficult that it makes purchasing from them painful. I just purchased a game from them because they are having a valentines day sale and the games are $1.99. I will not purchase another game from them even if they offer the games at $0.01 until they are on the android market. What a complete hassle and waste of my time it has been to get this game. Just. Not. Worth. It.

Those two are older games and you wont be seeing any updates for them.

For their newer titles they have added an auto update and it will check for updates every time they are launched.

Also I'm not sure where your getting the games but just go to Gameloft.com on the phone and buy with credit card and it will automatically download. Just as easy as the market.
