Games broken at launch

Given the number of "AAA" releases this year that have been fundamentally broken, this is quite an interesting article.

I don't mind a day 1 patch, as long as it fixes all the bugs it is supposed to.

I was really looking forward to Halo: The Master Chief Collection, but it's been ruined because the finished game feels like a beta.

As an apology to those who bought AC: Unity, Ubisoft are giving away a free DLC pack. If you'd already bought the DLC, you can choose from one of the following games for free:

  • The Crew
  • Far Cry 4
  • Watch Dogs
  • Assassin’s Creed Black Flag
  • Rayman Legends
  • Just Dance 2015

This is why my brother, who only has Destiny for his Xbone, isn't planning on getting any new games for Christmas. There's still no system sellers for the new consoles, and most of what's come out so far has been broken.

It's infuriating.

I'm sorta the same. I'll get Lego Batman 3 as part of my sons Xmas present, but I'm loathed to spend upwards of £60 for a game, only for important elements not to work at launch.

What's bad is when there isn't a day 1 patch making console users wait longer for a working game than PC users usually wait (or when they roll up console-relevant fixes from PC patches and push them out)

I think it's ridiculous. Games shouldn't be released until they're ready. It's bad enough that they make you pay $60 for a game, then have more of the game (that should have just been on the disc) ready to sell you on day one. Shoving a game out the door with the attitude of "we'll fix it later" is unacceptable.

Often, that "more of the game to sell you on day one" is already on the disc. It's just locked unless you buy the key.

I think it's worse when they have a working game then break it completely. Like Microsoft did with Minecraft one update after they bought it -_-.
