No idea mate. Games have always stayed cached for me unless i really push the system. Im not a big gamer though by any means

When you go to the Home screen using the Home button and are ready to go back to the game, long press the Home button to get into the Task Manager. You should see your game in this window along with other apps. Tap on your game and it should be back where you left it.

yea that didn't work.

this pressing the menu key for a few secs brings up the recently used apps list. Is there a way to edit it to show only the currently opened applications?

Long press on the Menu soft key brings up Google Now. The Home button in the middle brings up the task manager. If it is showing any apps in the window they should still running in the background.
