Root GB/liberty rom question which first

sorry for the redundancy. but im having trouble understanding.
as i am new to this stuff. but the more i learn the more i want to modify stuff lol.

i have a vzw droid 2 with 2.2 i also rooted it the other day with z4root.
i have downloaded $5 liberty tool box, titanium backup and superuser.

i want to stay rooted. i wanted to get the 2.3 update...also the liberty rom...
which do i do first?
bootstrap? i cant find that in the marketplace...
sbf? is that an action, not an app?

this seems to get me a tad closer VVV

i didnt do anything GB
i watched the DMX youtube video how to get the liberty 2.0 ROM.
but now when i go to reboot from that green dos screen it says liberty.
then the eagle shows up and spins every 30 seconds....for hours...is this boot loop?

IT WONT BOOT INTO RECOVERY ;( hard reset. boot loop. hard reset boot loop. noooooo


edit. i hit the vol/down button and camera button and power. and it powers on to a blank black screen with some old school font saying
battery ok
ok to program
connect usb....

now what? connect to pc and then..??
any help is appreciated
 
Liberty is either GB based or 2.3.2 based so I would first flash SBF 2.3.2. Follow the directions from the link I provided.
 
oooh i have 2.2, could that be it? it needs to be 2.3 first?
sorry, im super new to this stuff. trying to wrap my brain around it

also in that link it when it says hit the "X" button?? i have a droid 2, what button is that for me? on the slideout keyboard?
 
ha. as i was downloading that stuff on my pc at home. i was curious about the X button. so i hit the power button and the X at the same time and it went to some other kind of boot recovery and it alllowed me to flash the rom again and it worked like it should. :)

man is the liberty rom sweeeet :
