Mods note - I made this thread in the All Things Root section because it requires that you need Gingerbread.
Possibly one of the newest GB 2.3-only apps out there. It won't even install if you're on 2.1 or 2.2.
The app is called Equalizer by Smart Android Apps LLC and it improves all sound audio (ringtones, alerts, alarms, and mp3s) on my DX.
Check it out for yourself This is the only EQ that works completely with the DX built-in speakers instead of just with headphones.
Finally, my DX makes music worth listening to!
