Gboard and U

A b c d e f g h I j k l m n o p q r s t u v w X y z

I just typed that with Gboard without touching shift. I guess X is upper case because that could be like X marks the spot or something.

it's gotta be a bug surely??

The fact that you're having this problem on two different phones still appears to be an indicator it's not so much a bug but some setting that's the cause. The odds of Gboard having the exact same glitch on just your Android and Apple phones just isn't likely. Since it's spanning across two different platforms I still contend there's a yet to be determined, common online service you're using that is doing the syncing, maybe your Google account. Do you have it tied into your iPhone in some way? Or is there some other service you can think of that you have running on both phones that might be linking your Android Gboard app with your iOS Gboard app?

it's happening on 2 different phones because I'm using gboard on both - if I use the default keyboards of both phones and not gboard I don't have the U issue as soon as I swap back to gboard the problem is back again
I use a lot of Google apps on my iPhone the same with my android I can't think of any.particular app that would sync with the other phone - maybe Google keep that syncs across both OS's - for such a little problem it's quite complex to troubleshoot
