And to nip it in the bud, there is an unreasonable request clause, so if you have already had your account deleted, a fair case could be made that it would be unreasonably difficult to scrub previously disassociated information.

How does AF determine if a user is in the EU or no? Is it by their IP address? Not everyone states their location on this forum. I'm sometimes in the EU, and sometimes I'm not.
That's a good question. I was just reading about best GDPR practices and since the EU considers IP personal information, I don't think we're allowed to keep that without permission, although given the way the web works it's like standing in front of someone screaming "don't look at me!" Email address? Take their word for it? I really don't know unless the EU wants to set up an anonymized authentication system for all EU citizens.

It does seem that a few major US sites are currently off limits to the EU:
...although if you do want to read the LA Times or whatever, I suggest using a VPN.

It's just a way to annoy everyone with the pretense they care about our privacy. The EU cares as much about Europeans as a domestic violence abuser does.
