Help Gear Live voice commands aren't working

Just got a gear live for Christmas, and I have a Galaxy s3. When ever I say "text so and so" it just googles what I just said to the watch. Same with email. If I click the text button manually, I can send a text, same for email, just not voice commands. Something I'm missing?

Can't find anything about this issue anywhere on the web. The only thing that comes up in search results that include Gear Live are reviews! Slightly frusterating...

I have the exact same issue with the Galaxy Note 3, and the exact same results when searching for a solution. Both devices are running Lollipop.

Your gear live is going this?
I'm running 6.0.1 and have zero issues.

It is registering your words, though, correct?

It is registering the words correctly. It's just not executing the commands. Saying "Text John" returns the Google Search results for the phrase "Text John". It does not open my Message app and begin a text message to my contact John, which is what I expect.
