Why was it bad? Is it not smooth, gameplay is bad, clunky?
From all the Gears players I've heard from they love it. They do agree that it rewards more skilled players though and makes it very clear who is good and who's not. They've all said good players will have fun, new players will struggle...heavily.
But overall I've only heard good things about this one.

its a clean up version and thats it. hah trust me, this will most likely kill the gears series.
still takes forever to kill someone, still has that over the shoulder view, still has you leaving saying, WHAT THE...
i'm not a harcore gears guy, but i'm certainly no newb. anybody think somebody is going to put down COD for this? yeah the gears heads, but is somebody going to say, wow i'm going to run to (insert game store) to pick this up.
with battlefield looking sooooo good, gears will be a thing of the past.

I loved Gears 1 and 2. Horde mode was so much fun. I love the game for the story and for the co-op. The multiplayer I didn't enjoy, but I got other games for that. I'll still be getting it.

Some people dare to be different. I have always liked the Gears series. This is the only upcoming xbox 360 game that im looking forward to. I think that this will be a great game. Every game has its haters, Gears is no different.
@OP, what didn't you like about the BETA? Without spoiling anything major.

Your "reviews" of any shooter that is not part of the CoD family just suck. It's completely biased. For the record, this game was never put in development to "save" the series. It was always intended to be a trilogy. This is the END of the trilogy. Where did you get your info that nobody wants to play this game? There's 15-20K people playing this BETA during peak hours easily. Personally, I have no idea how you can even compare a sci-fi 3rd person shooter to a 1st person military shooter. The games play completely different and I like it that way. Some people prefer a little alteration from time-to-time.
I'm currently in the beta and myself along with my friends all enjoy it. Dedicated servers are awesome. The gameplay is smooth and accurate, never a hiccup. You actually feel like you are doing damage to enemies now. You unlock skins for weapons as well as character skins (Marcus, Dom, Cole, etc.) and there's in-game achievements as well which attribute to your points (which also assist in leveling you up). The maps are decently sized and all have their advantages/disadvantages. You can now use your meatshield as a mine. Assuming you have a grenade in your arsenal of weapons, you would attach it to the body and then throw it out in front of you and it would explode and deal dmg to nearby enemies. Overall, I like the improvements that were made to the game. As real gamers know, the objective of any beta is to get feedback from the users to see if there is anything else that is required to be fixed prior to release.
Fans would be furious if they took out third person view. This is Gears of War 3. Not "Call of Duty: Copy of a Non-Perfect Just Popular Game". One of the major issues Gears 2 suffered was bad servers. With dedicated servers coming up, and learning from mistakes, that is one problem that will not come up again.
On the otherhand, CoD has had peer to peer servers forever. It's ALWAYS been a problem, yet what does Activision do? They try to save money and still run peer to peer servers. They're too busy recycling maps and selling them at $15 a piece. I do enjoy CoD, but it is far from perfect.
And CoD took many elements from the landmark games: Counter-Strike, Quake, Doom, and Unreal. Of course future games will copy what was successful, but CoD was not one of the originals. People need to stop talking like CoD is the backbone of FPS games. FPS games were around long before CoD existed.

I just started last night and there were 45,000+ on at any given time when I was playing. The game is a big improvement from Gears 2 multiplayer. I even played Gears 1 last night and it took less than a minute to fill each room. People love Gears and will continue to play it for years to come.

I never played Gears or Gears 2, but I decided to give the Demo a try. Other than the fact that I'm really bad at it, I kinda like it. I know I'll like it a lot better once I get better at it (I do NOT like playing games that I'm not good at, haha), but I'm also concerned because I was starting to get some motion sickness from it, which I get from some other games as well. Oh, and some of the executions gross me out lol.

Did you do the execution where you rip off the person's arm and beat them with it? That's my favorite but its long and it'll get you killed if someone is near.

Yeah, that one I find kinda funny. But some of the others, like getting curb stomped or chainsawed in half... I have to look away for those. I'm not usually bothered by blood and stuff but that's a bit much for me.

In CoD you can jump right in and pick it up really easy and succeed right away. That's why it's so popular, because it's so easy to pick up and be "good" at.
I do see your point in trying to succeed in sales like CoD did. But let's be honest, we all play different games because we get tired of other ones. We play Gears cause it's a break from CoD or whatever. If every game was like CoD, FPS games would suck and be so boring after a while. While Gears and other games may not even come close to making the money CoD does, I'm glad they're still there for me to play when I get bored of CoD.

well kinda sorta. $5 at gamestop to "pre-order". u dont even have to pick it up. u can apply it toward another game if you wish, so its essentially free. and it you have Bulletstorm, you could have tested earlier.
and about the other stuff parish, i agree. i get it. i know it, but i am not confident that this will keep a gears game locked in our future in any capacity. console are multiplayer machines.

i played it again this morning and guess it got better for me (i was being more objective)
first, not EVERYBODY was using the sawed off, unlike the first go at it.
second i didnt rush to kill, i kinda took a step back to realize how much has changed and the actual levels... game looks pretty sweet but again, i dont think its as good as it could be

You do realize that CoD is played across 3 platforms as opposed to Gears which is only on 360, right? That would explain the large numbers you keep attempting to compare it to. Again, stop basing your opinion as fact. Do you work in the videogame entertainment industry? If not, you don't have any insider info to back up your claims which then makes your previous argument null and void.
If someone took a sawed-off shotty and pulled the trigger in your face, guess what would happen? You would be dead. It's not unrealistic. It's in the game for a reason. If you see someone running with the sawed-off, why bother attempting get close with your own shotgun? Use the rifles. That's what they are for. That's your own fault for not knowing how to play the game.

Again, CALL OF DUTY IS ON MULTIPLE PLATFORMS (PC, PS3 and XBOX) THUS MAKING IT EASIER TO SELL AT SUCH A HIGH CAPACITY. What are you not understanding?
The Gears of War games-to-date have achieved high ratings (usually above 9.0) across the board. So what's your point? Do you even have one?

my point (i thought was clear) was a game that got worse ratings still sold like hot cakes, thus keeping the franchise energized.
ok, with your clamoring about the multi platform releases, 13.7 divided by 3 is about 4.5... now thats being generous with PC in the equation.
that figure is a tad low to Gears, but that was a US figure i read on wiki. and again this is a 7/8/9 rated game.

That's because some people are CoD fanboys and will buy each and every game that has the title "Call of Duty" I enjoyed the CoD series but quit playing after MW2 and I didn't even play it that much. I don't want GoW to follow CoD at all. They have a great game and they need to stick to it instead of following what other people are doing.
