Gemei G9 and Google play

I got a new 9.7 inch tablet,Gemei G9 with Android 4.0. It has Google play pre-installed, my problem is that Google Play does not recognize the brand so it won't let me download programs that my Samsung 4.0 Galaxy S2 can. It does allow other programs to download. Is it the version of Google Play on the unit or the unit really can't use, say Google Voice or RealPlayer etc.
Any help would be kind.

TBH I don't think there's much you can do about it. I think Google Play has a database of some sort, about what app works with what devices. If it's something strange and virtually unknown, e.g. Gemei, you'll get "This app is not compatible with this device.". Samsung is not a problem, is it's such a popular device, pretty much anything should work with that.

Thing is Gemei is a Chinese make, most of their devices are sold here in China. So most of them don't even have Google on them. I wonder if Play was added/hacked by the importer or something rather than Gemei themselves.
