Gemini Calendar - my vision of calendar software

Only calendar app I could find with an 8 day repeat for a shift workers schedule, but days started repeating everyday in July, and November for no apparent reason. Any possible fix?

Loaded this up and was very impressed with the setup process. Very smooth, well laid-out, and easy to follow for even the total rookie to Android. So far I haven't found any problems with it, but I just feel these test apps are due good comments as well as the bugs.

Great work, and I will continue to use and test!!

"GO TO" is awesome. THANKS!!!

Suggestion: once you hit "Today" the calendar should just go there, rather than making you also hit "OK." But that's minor.

I received two reports about Force Close in the last update. I understand very well, that it is annoying and not everyone has a time to deal with problems in Gemini Calendar.
But if you are kind enough to help me fighting the bugs, please, follow the procedure I described on my site:

How user can help developer to fight with bugs

This will send the system logs from your device, showing me what is wrong.
No personal data is sent, you can always read the whole information before it is sent to me.

I'm using your calendar for about 2 weeks or so now, and the stock android calendar is sitting in the corner and cries. (i've tried calpad but it wasn't what i wanted and also buggy)
Everybody said it, but i will say it once more :
- I haven't seen a better method for selecting a time//date, it's fast and your finger isn't getting in your way.
- Month overview an "day agenda" on one screen is just great

A "hint", please :
- document the features better, for example I found out just today that long press on a date adds a new event, and I even can set more day events like that - great feature, but i learned about it trying to open the day view
- what is the day or moth view ? i haven't found them yet

I have one request and one crazy idea :
- "swipe to switch month" (like in calpad) requested already would be really really nice

- and then something that is a little bit complicated to describe:
At the beginning of the month the calendar is great as it is, but at the ending you often have to click "next month" to get an overview.
So my idea would it be possible to display in the default view the following 4 weeks :
- last week
- this week
- the following 2 weeks
(and only if you go to previos/next month the complete months)
I have no idea if this is possible - and if anybody besides me would like that

- More than one dot, if more than one event a day
It is clear that you have to cut it at some point, but is it possible to display 1, 2 or max 3 points per day ?
- Same for all day events, would it be possible to "break the bar in two" if you have more than one all day event ? (for example one being an public holiday)

I will try to help as much as a user with no idea of programming can, and going to pay for the final version

I was just about to post about this. I get the force close when I try to add the widget to my home screen. I already sent my log out to you, hope it helps.

P.S. The standalone icon 'Gemini Add Event' works very well as does the calendar itself, it is just in adding the widget I get this force close.

I just want to add my support for these two suggestions. The latter idea should be an option; I think that showing the entire month should remain as the default.

And yes (speaking as a programmer), it's very possible, but of course would require some effort by Powell.

I second (or I guess it is third by now) this. I was going to suggest this as well. Swipe to change month would be great. Maybe with the ability to swipe up + down to change view (month, week, day) and right to left to change month, week, day. Not sure if it is possible, or how tough it would be to impliment, but in a past calendar I used, it made for very fast + easy usage.

Just did this with the log recorder, then tried adding the widget and BANG! Force Close! So I sent off the log. Great timing!

After the latest update Gemini crashes when changing to a new month (on my htc desire)

It is my default calendar already, but here is my wishlist :D

- changing to a new month "swiping" left or right over the month button (you now have to push the tiny buttons to go back and forth)
- More minimalistic, more "clean" look would be appreciated.
- When changing an event, it would be nice to have the option to open the month view and pick a day from that view...

In the latest update, 0.9.20, I noticed the widget-maker is gone. But now the "Gemini Add Event" icon doesn't seem to go to the "add event" screen -- there's no difference between where the regular Gemini icon goes and where the Gemini Add Event icon goes.

I haven't posted much about this app because I've been too busy using it. I really don't have any problems with it, but would like to make one suggestion.

When I add a new event or edit an existing event, I have a hard time selecting the date (month, day, year) and time. The slider on the right is nice for when trying to move from an early morning to late afternoon time, but is quite difficult to hone in on the exact date, hour, minute, etc. I'm not sure if it is just me or others too, but I suggest that you make it so that you can slide your finger over the slider (up and down), but also make the up and down arrows be "click-able". By this I mean make it so that if i single press on the up arrow when trying to select the hour, the hour advances by one (11 going to 12).

Now, I would like to second the request to allow the swiping between months. By this i mean swipe finger right to go to the next month and left to go to the previous month.

Finally, I would like confirm that with the new update, the add event shortcut goes straight to the main page view and not the add event view.

Great job on this app and thank you for taking the time to create it, update it, and interact with us users. Your dedication makes these very few and almost unimportant issues/user preferences I have referenced non-issues. I love this app and don't even open the stock calendar any more.

Again, thank you very, very much!

Just figured i would let the developer know..

I have tried for the past 2 days to install the Gemini again. I installed it previously and was waiting to put it back on when it had a widget and with the .19 and .20 updates, I get a force close on everything with it. I was able to checkmark the calendars I wanted to use one time, but it will force close right after and not bring any of the calendars up. I am on the Eris with 2.1 V3 leak on it. I am not able to veiw the calendar at all right now without a force close.

I must admit that I have some reports about Force Close which is quite mysterious, because on all my devices, that I have in range (5) it never happens. That makes the whole thing quite hard to solve, but I am trying to figure out, what is going on and there should be a cure soon.
I would like to ask you for a patience.

If you want to help me to solve the problem, send me logs after FC. That should speed up my investigation.
Just follow the procedure I described on my site:

How user can help developer to fight with bugs

Unfortunately, simple information that there was a Force Close does not help.
I wrote some PW's to users, that reported problems here, but not everyone answered. If you have problems with Gemini Calendar, contact me at bugs@gemini-mobile.com , that should make everything simpler.

Could the FCs have anything to do with alternate Home programs? I'm running a "stock" Motorola Droid (unrooted) with 2.1. But I'm using Helix Launcher. The only FC I ever had was when I tried to create the widget on the home screen (I sent in a log message).

  • Bug report: moving the trackball to the right moves you one day forward in time, as it should, except near the end of the month. when the current date is may 29th and weeks begin on sunday, moving the trackball right has no effect. It works fine one week earlier, on may 22nd
  • Feature request: when you press the trackball button while in month view it should do something, for example either add an event or open the calendar in day-mode. Currently it does nothing.

Yea, I'm not sure where all the reported FC's are coming from. I have HelixLauncher 1 and have never had a FC, except when I tried to add the widget to my home screen. However, that FC was HelixLauncher FCing and NOT Gemini.

Come to think of it, this is the only app that I have ever used that has not had a FC. That includes all of the stock apps (phone, calendar, contacts, maps, etc) as well.

Wow, interesting observation. Now that you mention that, I'm not exactly sure what was force closing on my Droid when I tried adding the widget, Gemini or Helix Launcher 1.

I'm sure Powell saw it on the error log I sent, though.

I know that it was Helix because the FC said Helix has stopped working. I then had the option to report or restart HelixLauncer.

Unfortunately, I did not know about the reporting feature powell had set up until after he removed the widget and therefore was unable to send a FC report.

I downloaded the calendar and it worked great.........for about 3 days. Now it is frozen, no appts and I'm bummed! I uninstalled and re-installed several times, but with the same results. It looks like the date is stuck on 26.04.2010. Here is the message: ! Sorry Activity Gemini Calendar (in application Gemini Calendar) is not responding
Please help, I was sooooooooo happy for 3 days.

O.k., I have had some issues for some time, that includes Force Close reports from some users, and then problems with uploading a new version of Gemini Calendar to the Market (There was Internal Server Error all the time).
I hope it is ok now, if you encounter a problem with downloading, try to uninstall and then install again.
Hope the bad luck is over.

I had some issues with updating to 0.9.21 where it would simply fail to download. However, I was able to update to 0.9.22 without a problem.

Again, great job with this app. Is there any way you could also look into allowing us to change our skins? I like the metallic look, but think that i might get sick of it after a while.

Thanks,

Kratos

I would like to report something that I either never noticed before or just have not experienced before. When I was selecting the time of an event while in landscape mode, I had not deselected from that field and switched to portrait mode. When I switched, it did not remember the time I had selected and I was forced to choose the time again. Just wanted to bring this to your attention.

Again, this is still the best app I have come across and is ten thousand times better than the stock calendar.
