General ROM Question

The Doctor
Does getting a custom ROM, say CM11, or Omni make me lose the capablility to use OEM accessories designed for their own software? For example, the Samsung keyboard dock for tablets only work if your active keyboard is the default Samsung keyboard, which you lose with a custom ROM.

It really depends on the ROM and what is built in. That is definitely something you need to ask the dev or others using that ROM... they might have work arounds or ways to get OEM accessories working. The general assumption though is that it won't be as simple as if you were on the OEM rom, and it'll be easier if you're on a ROM with the same style as OEM (sense for HTC, touchwiz for samsung, etc)

The rom won't have Samsung's drivers so I know you lose hdmi output for example. I don't know if your keyboard uses something open source like otg or if it uses proprietary Samsung software. I'd just make a nandroid and try it mate.
Also try asking a Dev or user of another aosp rom. Same thing probably applies to them all
