GeoHot Vs. Sony

In cases such as these Sony might spare your life. The Ninja dispatched to that guys home might just have instructions to shave the pet dog bald.

Diabolical, I know.

I have experienced something like that. In my case, they ironed out the wrinkles in my Shar-Pei.

I just decided to buy my first ebook reader. I always had the Sony reader as my top choice. So I bought a Nook. Seeing how Sony is conducting business, I don't want to give them any money right now. And I sent them a Tweet on Twitter (@SonyElectronics) telling them as much. Always thought Apple was evil, but all they do is play cat-and-mouse with the jailbreakers. Whereas Sony is actively looking for IPs of people who have just looked at a video or visited a website about jailbreaking a PS3 but who haven't even done anything. And even if they have done something, it's nothing illegal in the first place. I really hope that ruling gets overturned or Sony does an about face on this whole thing. Right now, Sony>>>>Apple in the evil department.

Haha well said.

Just look at the ignorance on the gaming sites though :

PS3 hacker exits US - News at GameSpot

The news article itself is bogus (started by some videogame blog site), Hotz is confirmed by his lawyer and himself now to be on a vacation and notified the court..but the ps3/sony fanboys genuinely believe Hotz contributed to piracy on the ps3 even though he took specific measures to prevent pirated stuff from running on his custom firmware releases.

Hilarious.

I'm not sure what legal grounds Sony would have to take on someone that had viewed a howto video or went to a site. I imagine there would need to be provided some sort of proof that I did modify my console, at the very least. I;ve not been to the site, but I wouldn't really be worried if I had.

FWIW those measures were not difficult to get around. Not saying he did that intentionally, but I think more people are using this to pirate than geek out with their linux for ps3 distro (which is apparently why he did this in the first place).

Don't get me wrong, the fact that Sony has gotten this far is crazy enough. I suppose there simply isn't precedent here, so we will probably see some new law(s) born as a result of this case.

I don't have a dog, and the girl weezes are still bitey. (they are young)

I'm not a gamer, but I don't think I like Sony's attitude. Would they try to chip any of their DSLR cameras so you can only use a Sony lens rather than Sigma or Tamron?
