The app called Georeader is my nomination. (though I may have a tiny bit of bias in me) It is free in Android Play (I miss the word "Market") , You can hear obscure information of the history of the area you are driving through, be told of historical buildings, famous people, battles, old bridges, and even ufo sighting locations you when you drive near them. Its works "Hands free" so you don't need to look at any screen, (it reads them out loud to you so you can focus on driving) , Has lots of information all over the USA and Canada. (One of the largest collection of historical markers in the world). It allows you to share info you know about at place and have others hear it at that location. You can even listen to Pandora while its running, and hear the messages at the same time giving you a little history lesson with some background music. It is what your GPS should have been. Dave

MyGeoReader: Hear as you near. Learn as you go.

I just finished adding expanded National Register of Historic Place information to every site in Peurto Rico, Guam, and Wyoming. Now you will get more info about significant sites there. Guam has a lot things remaining from World War 2 including sunken cargo ships, pill boxes and midget subs. Peurto Rico has information about forts, British versus Spanish Battles, and a lot on the culture of the island. Wyoming has a lot of info on the wild west and the National parks. Even if you can't go there, you can surf around on the map at MyGeoReader: Hear as you near. Learn as you go. and explore. Dave
