German ICS

Hi,

So I bought my galaxy S3 I9300 off ebay when I was in the US. The seller didn't mention that the phone is a german version or something - the menu and s voice are german, there's a german user manual and there's a bunch of german apps preinstalled. I don't speak german. But that's no big deal, I switched everything to english, removed all german apps and continued using the phone. However, whenever there are these minor android updates, my phone downloads the update and all those german apps are there again. What's up with that? How does the phone even know it needs to download a german update? Is it like a different edition of the firmware or something? Also, when jelly bean comes out for my phone, will this problem go away?

Looks like its a German device, and the location and default location are set to German.

It may be as easy as changing your build.prop

The phone is rooted correct?

OK, Im not aware of another way to do it without root.

You may have to just deal with it til you decide to root

I don't mind rooting, it's just something that I've been postponing for some reason. When I do root, what would be the next steps in order to solve the problem?

Well, there are text lines in your build prop that tell the phone what the default language and locale is, so it should just be a matter of changing those if that is truly the issue like I suspect it is.
