get device books on Amazon Kindle

I have put a *.mobi book on my Galaxy S2 phone. The phone has the Amazon Kindle app, signed in and loaded with my books from the Amazon store.

I now want to read the *.mobi book I have on my phone but can find no settings to search the phone for the book.

Any advice please?

Get a different book reader, like Mantano, MoonReader etc.

Because the Kindle app can only read books from Amazon cloud. It doesn't handle device loaded books.

Ok found reason. Amazon only opens books bought in Amazon?? Going to add Aldiko; one I have used for a long time; thought I might be able to replace with Amazon for all ebooks.

while i happen to think aldiko is the best ereader, you'd still be out of luck, as aldiko doesn't read mobi files.

I use FBreader myself for .mobi books. http://fbreader.org/ you can also get it on the Play Store. Free is good.

It's Ok as I still have the epub versions

You can read your own mobi files via the amazon app.

Open the kindle app, hit menu (3 dots in the top left of the screen), scroll down to settings and you'll see a kindle email address, something like athegn_15@kindle.com. If you use the email address that's linked to your Amazon account and send the mobi files to the kindle address, the kindle will import them for you.

Not sure if it works with epub though.
