It's the same old story ... wait for the newest thing just around the bend and you'll be waiting forever, or jump in only to see something released next week that you like better.

Honestly, if you have a Staples near you that carries the T101 and you use this http://androidforums.com/asus-eee-pad-transformer/379379-100-off-tablet.html how can you go wrong?
The hardware is up to snuff and the next OS (Ice Cream Sandwich) most likely won't be ready until 2012. I'd say, jump.

I question Asus when it comes to getting a Transformer 2 out soon. It took them forever to release the Transformer, and its also taken them a long time to release the Slider.
