Root Get Root! - Based on new 1.6 - Finally!

Bearsfan85, thanks for your help. I have the stock 1.6 that I just rooted using Nu11u5's kernel. I could use "ls" to list all programs. I would like to get rid of some stock apps which are not used by me. I was wondering if someone may have any suggestions for me to remove apps without damaging BH2 or having to re-odin with microhaxo's version. TIA.

Cool

eschnit81 was gunna look into it this weekend, havent heard anything from him all day, doesnt help that the forums are down.

@coolshades, did you still want that list

@coolshades, let me know what applications you are thinking of getting rid of and I could tell you if you need them or what the affect would be if you deleted them.

Bearfan85, thanks for all your, and others' support for the Behold II. I am embarrassed to say that I jumped ship to Vibrant. However, when y'all get 2.1 running, I will definitely come back to BH2 because I only need to use the $10 data plan for it. Thanks again.

Cool

Bearsfan85,

I read somewhere on the forum that someone was able to use the $10 with Vibrant, but only for a little while and TMO would stop it cold and require upgrade to the Android plan.

The only problem I heard so far is issues with Vibrant's gps. My unit would see 9 - 10 satellites, and only 2 were used at any time. Also, when I uncheck using wireless data for location, Maps would not even figure out my location. Supposedly there will be a "fix". I'm keeping my fingers crossed as I really have had enough with Samsung and TMO.

Cool

I'm trying to remove some apps that came with the phone. I am using the stock 1.6 OEM. I flashed with the root ROM. I installed superuser 2.3.6.1 from the market. I used ADB shell and received the # prompt. I tried to remove the amazon mp3 app, but received message "Read only file system". When I do "ls -l" I see that the owner is root and it has -rw permissions. What am I doing wrong? Thanks!

Please Help me, i don't know how to flash with Odin, i have the behold 2 on 1.6 but i have tried all too root the phone but everything fail...

I finally managed to root my phone like this:

NOTE: This procedure will wipe off all your data, so if you already have stuff on the phone, back it up first.

First, I took out the SIM card.

The links to the files are here:

http://androidforums.com/behold-2-a...n-images-available-latest-t-mobile-stock.html

Next, I made full flash to 1.5 with the file T939UVJA3-Odin.zip.
Flash this in Odin with One Package UNCHECKED.

Let the phone boot properly, then shut it down.

Next, update to 1.6 stock with this:
Download Behold II T939UVJE2 OEM Odin Files and Instructions

This one needs to be flash with One Package CHECKED.

Again, let the phone boot properly, then shut down.

Last step, the file and directions are here:

http://androidforums.com/behold-2-all-things-root/128131-get-root-based-new-1-6-finally.html

This one also need to be flashed with One Package CHECKED.

After flashing, let the phone boot properly. At this stage, I did not use the superuser.apk that is provided with the rooting files. Instead, I connected to the market using WiFi, and downloaded the newer version of superuser.apk, that is now available on the market.

You can shut down the phone and reinstall the SIM card.

Hope this works for you!

Quick question, is it recommended to remove the SIM card before flashing? If so, why?
