get the screen back on a long call without hanging?

When I am making a call and the phone screen turns off (goes black) if I need info from the phone how do I get it back on so I can search? I notice that if I press the button on the side I hang up the call, I did that a couple of times! I don`t know how to get the screen back on!

In Call settings (when you're in the Phone app), there's an "Answering/ending calls" item. In there is an "The power key ends calls" item. Uncheck that. Then you can use the power button to bring the screen back and get info or press the on-screen button to end the call.
