Get Upgrade Earlier?

So on the 11th of next month I'll be eligible for my upgrade. If I pick up and call 611 is there a possibility they'll allow it to be done early or go to a Corporate Store?

The Galaxy S III is calling my name, lol!:D

There's always a possibility, you never know until you ask. If they say no, you haven't lost anything, and if they say yes, you win. So you have nothing to loose by asking.

Best of luck, :smokingsomb:

I've done it once or twice. They will usually give you the upgrade price, but charge you a $15-25 dollar fee for upgrading early. Your mileage may vary, and you may get lucky and find someone that won't charge the fee...

Also, if you're now on unlimited data, buying at the subsidized lower price will force you into one of the family share plans. If you want to keep your unlimted plan then you have to buy the phone at full price...

I thought they now charged a flat $35 upgrade/loyalty fee?
I've upgraded early a few times in the past, if you are a month or so out they will usually let you do it. Good point about having to change plans though...they get you coming and going. Ugh.

Like the man said, the worst thing they can do is say no. But Verizon has been really clamping down on early upgrades, so I wouldn't expect anything. But again, there is absolutely no harm in asking.

On the fee discussion, it just ticks me off that as a renewing/loyal customer I get changed this fee to upgrade to a phone that costs more for me than for a new customer. It's one thing to not reward loyal customers, but to actually punish them is different.

They may be fine with it since they are eager to get everyone off unlimited data and onto a family share plan.

I just called the CS rep stated that they aren't allowing Early Upgrades for 4G Phones and IPhones. Seems counter intunitive to me. Only other option is to either pay full price for the phone and then do the upgrade when its due and sell it on E-Bay or just wait it out.

It is what it is I guess.

Oh, FYI you can actually upgrade a week before your upgrade date.

I've received a September upgrade in June or July (I forget when) early. So that's quite a bit early. Just be persistent. If you've been a loyal customer for x amount of years make sure they know it. And if you've always paid on time etc.

Yeah keep trying. I upgraded to a 4G phone just before the end of unlimited and my contract wasn't up until November.

Maybe suggest how Verizon wants all of their customers to switch to 4G. Maybe say how great Verizon's coverage is but you were thinking of switching to, say, T-Mobile since they now offer a completely unlimited data package. That's usually a trigger to make them go the extra little mile.

I broke a phone a few years back, and was close enough by a few months to my upgrade date that they just gave me the upgrade.

Got them to do it....

Back story: Knowing I would be forced to switch to a Shared Plan to do my upgrade I went ahead and setup to switch to that on the next billing cycle that way to the billing would be less chaotic from switching in the middle of the month.

Today I was either gonna cancel the plan change and buy the phone out right or use it as leverage to get the upgrade.......Well the leverage worked and she was able to to get a Galaxy S3 (Blue 16GB). She was more than willing to do that. She did say that some of the newer phones sometimes dont qualify.

Got my phone and I love it! Runs great and runs circles around my Droid X!

Had some issues activating but nothing CS wasn't able to take care if. It was because of that pending order to change plans I mentioned in my last post. She was going to have to undo the change to allow the activation to proceed. That is when I casually mentioned I wished I could keep unlimited data. She hinted the fact something about a system update on their end plus when I placed a change order that didn't go into effect until next billing cycle.

Long story short due to a bug on their end plus lucky timing on mine I keep unlimited data BONUS! Okay at least until my wife gets hers in May.

Hmm, I would watch my plan carefully, just to make sure, but if you pulled that off, congrats!

No kidding. Prior to this I could not make any changes to my account in my vzw. Now I can. I checked and I still have my 1400 minute unlimited plan. Cycle ends in a few days. So we'll see.
