Getting a Maxx tonight, or should I wait?

(I know people in here might be a little biased towards the Maxx, but that's not necessarily a bad thing.)

I am going to add a line to my family plan tonight for my grandmother and use her new contract to upgrade from my Tbolt to the Razr Maxx. (I'll get her something cheap and more practical that she'll like). I'm just looking for some honest reviews of the phone from you guys. I have been reading reviews all day from random people on random sites, but I like the Phandroid community and I'd like some reviews from you all. How is the battery, truly? How is the camera? What can I expect coming from an HTC phone? Any other opinions? TIA

The battery is the best currently out there. With moderate use, you can get close to 2 days. I normally put mine in a dock every night as I use it as an alarm clock. I'm usually still at close to 60 to 70% battery life when I go to bed. So I know I could go 2 days without a problem. The voice quality is excellent, something Motorola excels at. The camera is good. Better than my previous phone the iPhone 4. The 4S has a better camera. For $199, it a great deal for one of the better phones out there with the by far the best battery.

There's no sense of waiting. The Maxx is currently the best Android phone out there right now. Perhaps in a few months when the Galaxy S3 comes out, that would be the one to beat. But in terms of screen quality, speed, call quality, and battery life, the MAxx is the king of the hill so far.

Besides a few minor hiccups, this thing has been great. A huge improvement over my DINC.

I just ordered a lightly used one off eBay myself. Not really upgrading as I'm coming from a Galaxy Nexus which is a nice phone in its own right; I was just sick of the sub par battery life on it. With the MAXX supposedly getting an official update to ICS anytime now, I figured it was a good trade.

The only thing that disappoints me about this device is the wifi antenna on it. If you hold the bottom of the device, the wifi signal strength drops. That's where the wifi antenna is located. Does the same with my Samsung galaxy tab 2. Not enough to lose the connection, but you can watch just how many bars it loses in wifi strength.

I came from a Thunderbolt and I have not missed a single thing about it!! The Maxx is the best phone on Verizon and will be for a while. I would not hesitate to buy it again. Especially since its now $199!!! Go for it!!!

Thanks everybody, I picked up my Razr Maxx tonight! Still installing apps and customizing to my liking but so far I love it. Big, beautiful screen, and the battery is no joke!

You should have waited for the Motorola Droid 5 Super Duper Sharp Razr MaxxxiMum Ultra HD Developer Edition in gold color coming out this summer!! :D

In all seriousness, the Maxx is a great phone and was a perfect time to buy with the recent price drop.

I'm really happy with it. I pulled it off the charger on my way to work at 7am this morning and used it quite extensively all day (since it was my first day with it) and I'm at 40% right now (11pm local time). I would have charged at least once by now with my bolt. :)

Bolt was a nice phone once developers fixed it. This is a nice phone out of the box. One thing I don't miss is the scratches. I'm sure Imoseyon could make this thing last a week on a charge, but a full day is all I need, and I get more than that.

I just sat on my lazyboy with the phone plugged in while I played with it that first day.

I still love this phone and I've had it since January I think.
