Getting a Moto X pure for my metro PCS account. Sim chip?

Papamalo

Android Enthusiast
Just about to pull the trigger.
Do I need a NEW SIM card with the Moto X Pure 2015, for it to work with my current MetroPCS Account, or can I use the one I am using with my older phone?

Also: Any recommendations on a protective case?

Thanks!

If your older phone has a nanoSIM, it's plug & play. If not, you'll need your SIM cloned to a nanoSIM.

Before you pull the trigger, though, contact Motorola and make SURE that it will work with Metro PCS. The Moto X Pure works on all the MAJOR carriers in the US, but there may be an issue with regional players and smaller companies.

That said, this is the case I ordered for my Moto X Pure:

Thanks! I contacted both metro PCS and motorola and both said it is a NanoSim, and that it will work fine.

I will be looking for something a little more like the ballistic case I have on my Samsung Galaxy SIII. any more ideas?
Thanks again! I can't wait to get my hands on this, and see what is any, rooting, ROM's and Kernels become available.

So can we talk process?
I am going to buy a Nano Sim, (best prices anyone?), and then what is the process where I activate it with my new moto x pure 2015? Basically I am asking if I can do it myself.
thanks.

If you already have service on Metro, just have your existing SIM cloned to a nano SIM, stick it in the XPE and rock on. If it's a new activation, then you just go through the normal activation process.

this is probably the rookiest question of the year, but all nano SIMM cards are identical, correct? I don't need your special one? On the other hand my local phone guy says that he will sell me the nanochip, and activate my Metro PCS account, four totaled $25. Maybe I should just pay him and play it safe, but I at least want to know. Thanks

I am also about to pull the trigger on a moto x pure edition. I also have MetroPCS. Can you please tell me how it is working? Tethering, Hotspot, LTE speed, ect.

Thanks m8!

I am loving it so far. My only learning curve really was, the placement of the buttons, which are a little close together for me, and I sometimes hit the wrong volume button, but I am getting it.

Hotspot: great
Bluetooth: Great
General sound: Great
Screen resolution and color: Great
Camera functions: Great
Moto X Automation: Great, especially for driving
LTE speed: Surprisingly fast (and I am on the less than spectacular Metro PCS)
Overall design: From 1 to ten I'd give it a strong 7 or 8
Ability to customize (My obsession) GREAT.

Of course, this is due in part to The Chief, and WeeWilly for their hep getting me up to speed.
It's basically just a good phone but with some group knowledge here, you can make a monster out of it.

I think this is a great forum in general, and you can get an answer to just about any Moto X Pure question.

Thanks!

Hi Papamalo,
can you help me figure out the tethering for my Moto X Pure. I already switched the sim and everything is working but the tethering...the customer service at Metro said that I needed the Mobile Hotspot App but that came strictly with their phones. How did you get your Hotspot to "great?" Thanks for any help I can get.

Rawfah, this is probably a silly question, but did you set up the hotspot? Did you assign an SSID and passphrase to it? I'm on VZ and have not had the first issue with hotspot.

Thanks for the reply The Chief. I'm not sure how to do this...can you lend a hand or send me instruction please. I would really appreciate it. Thanks again.>>>>>I know how to use android to activate hotspot but I'm not sure what you mean by SSID and passphrase, It sounds like the normal connection but I get the "No internet connection" message.

All you have to do is go to Settings --> Wireless & Networks --> More --> Tethering & portable hotspot and "Set up Wi-Fi hotspot". You don't have to change the network name (unless you want to), but you will want to assign a password to it. I use WPA2 PSK Security and it works fine.

Thanks again The Chief but I'm with MetroPCS and they are unlimited but when I switched phones they were stingy and do not let me install their Mobile Hotspot App even though I have the same plan. I took it to MPCS and they said it would work on my phone. Another person on another android Moto X PE says he is rooted while someone else said they did not need to root. Have not had a reply by either. Still need help but thanks for helping.
