Getting a new Android phone. Hmmm...so many choices.

I'm looking to buy a new Android phone. I currently have an unrooted G1, and would like some opinions on what I should get.

I'm with T-Mobile (USA). I would even switch carriers depending on the phone.

Any opinions...?

many might not agree with me, but if u root you're G1 i would say you'd have the best android phone TMO has to offer, at the moment ;)

LOL. I want to take the dive and root, but I'm too scared of bricking my phone. I attempted to root it and for some reason could not get passed the part where I put the DREAIMG file on my sd card. It would start and then it would freeze and stay stuck on 4 minutes remaining. I took that as a sign not to root. If I can get past that issue then I would totally root my G1.

Don't let it all be about the phone.
Check reception and price too. A phone is also as good as its carrier.
Question to answer:
1. How many daytime mins do you use?
2. How much money are you willing to spend monthly?
3. Can you deal with a virtual keyboard?
4. What's the coverage of the top 4 in your area?

A. If you call a lot of mobile phones go with Sprint.
B. If you call a lot of lines then go with T-Mo
C. If you get lousy reception then go with Verizon.
D. C is debatable, but it does carry the droid.

I don't use that many daytime minutes. I probably use 200-300 a month. I do a ton of texting and emailing. So as long as I have an unlimited text and data plan then I'm good. I was thinking about getting verizon because I'm a real stickler when it comes to reception. T-Mobile has decent reception, but it could be better in my area.

Yeah - I'm in the same situation.

I have a Nokia N95 (Vodafone UK) whose contract runs out very soon and i want to swap over to a Android. Thing is - do i take the plunge now (probably a Hero since the Droid/Milestone is not available over here) or do I wait till very early next year and see what is out then.

Thing is there will ALWAYS be a better phone around the corner...
