I keep getting this error where I sent a message with an emoji and get another text sent with "??" as shown below:

AT&T keeps having me reset the network settings which does nothing to fix this and the Samsung customer support closed the call after the issue didn't present itself when we were troubleshooting the issue. I have absolutely no idea how to fix this other than reformatting my phone back to factory default and erasing everything. I seen there was a thread on this issue but can't seem to find it. Has anyone figured out this issue?

hmmmmm have you tried wiping cache and data for the app? this will delete your texts though so use something like sms backup to back up txt messages.

So interesting news. I'm not able to clear the cashe from the device. Not sure what I'm doing wrong. The only cashe that I was able to clear was the Memory. I didn't see anything while clearing it mention messaging. I'm assuming it did it because that's about all I can do at this moment. When I select the "Storage" option I see some things that I can remove but nothing with messaging. I'll give more info if that might've fixed the ?? issue.

There were also no options to clear it out of the message app

This is all the options I have.
no.....go to your phone's settings>go to messages(your messaging app)>scrolled down until you see "storage">scroll down at the bottom. you will see options to clear data and one for storage
This is all the options I have.
this screenshot is for your storage overall for the phone. you need to go into your app manager:
phone's settings>apps>messaging>scroll down to storage>at the bottom you should see options to clear cache and to clear data.

Think it made it work different now. The ?? is in the 1st text and the emoji is below it. Reverse order. Still shows up ?? on receiving end. It did something clearing the data.

Officially I'm convinced it's the phone and not a widespread Android issue. I've asked several others and they're not getting the same issue I've been having. I'll let AT&T know this and see about getting a different phone soon due that this is getting very annoying. Thank you all for the help you've given!

Something really huge I've found. This only happens when I send emojis to Apple users.
that is a very a likely issue. apple and android don't mix well. and it is usually when people are texting with one another......so i'm not surprised this is happening.

don't hold your breath with ATT and Apple fixing this. just going to have to get used to it.

Not sure if I mentioned. If found the fix. You'll have to got to your text settings for the Samsung Keyboard and reset to default. This also fixed the issue where I would send a link and it won't show the preview of the link. A friend of mine pointed this out from Facebook who had the same issue.

I have a Flip 3 and a Note 10+ and I get the same issue with the crapple Iphones. I just don't worry about it because I don't think there is a fix or I am just too lazy to see lol
